"Mom, I'm Boooored"- Not Anymore ✨

There’s something about summer days where time seems to actually stand still, and with kids out of school- entertaining them has become your full time job. But you’re not in this alone, I’m a homeschooling mom who is used to coming up with random ideas for my kids to do whenever I just need a few seconds to think (or use the restroom in peace) so I’ve come up with a boredom jar for us to use this summer. Anytime we hear the dreaded “Mom, I’m boooooored” we pull out the jar and let the kids entertain themselves.

For my subscribers, I’ve turned this idea list into a printable sheet filled with 45 easy, low-prep, ideas that are perfect for kids 3-7 years old. That way all you have to do is print it out, add the ideas to a jar, and let the magic happen. From indoor scavenger hunts to outdoor nature soup these ideas are here to keep kids busy and entertained for at least 10-20 minutes.

45 Summer Boredom Buster Ideas

  1. Build a city or zoo out of blocks, or draw one on cardboard and decorate it with toys.

  2. Find ten things inside that are blue then arrange them by size for an extra challenge.

  3. Do a draw along art class on youtube. Our favorite free draw along class is art for kids hub!

  4. Make a necklace or bracelet using pipe cleaners and beads (or pasta).

  5. Make a boat out of foil and see if it floats, then see what you can add to it before it sinks.

  6. Gather some nature items and then make “soup” outside.

  7. Take a spray bottle or paintbrush and water and wash the house, deck, or windows.

  8. Find some cardboard boxes and decorate them.

  9. Take chalk and draw an outdoor city.

  10. Play with playdoh and see what themes you can come up with!
